I was poking around on iTunes the other day, and I found this:

Sagi-Rei - Emotional Songs

I like it. It's dance songs (many of which are my favourites, such What Is Love, Right in the Night, Rhythm is a Dancer and various others I generally liked at the time), but sung in a less dancey way.

Film making

I've always wanted to do amateur film making and stuff like that, and recently (after seeing epi_lj mention the technically impressive but somewhat silly Star Wreck: In The Pirkinning fan film) have had a notion to actually put some effort in.

Websites on the subject generally say start small and fun, and work up from there, so I've been trying to think of a short film to put together (whilst also looking for local groups or clubs, no luck so far), but I'm trying to think of what might be a good plot for such a thing. Currently I'm thinking I might take some of the reports from books like the Gazetteer of Scottish Ghosts and produce reconstructions of what happened, but do any of you have any suggestions? :)

So on Monday my PowerMac broke down (ironically after the PowerPC->Intel announcement, and while i think moving to x86 specifically (I have no problem with them moving to any CPU but that) I can understand why they're doing it and so can generally live with it), it stated freezing every 5 minutes, then wouldn't boot. I tested RAM, reset things, used Apple Hardware Test but nothing really could be done, so I called Apple. Sadly, the closest Apple Service Provider they suggested has no slots free until Tuesday and take 5 days to fix a G5, so it won't be fixed until a week on Tuesday, which is annoying.

Hooray

Today was the regional heats of the BCS Programming Competition 2005, in which some people from work wanted to compete, so me and my friend from work Dirk had joined in too. As we had 8 people, we created 2 teams, of which me, Dirk, Alexis (the technical lead on the project I'm on at work just now) and another guy who was ill and didn't make it today.

Anyway, the team I was on won and me, Dirk and Alexis each received a copy of Microsoft Visual Studio.NET and will be appearing at the finals next month.

I made myself a theme for my phone, as I was fed up with the default O2 one. I used Roman Dirge's Lenore, as I like that comic (I must be closet goth or something).

Here is a pictureCollapse )

I'm not sure why I made it red/pink. I think I was thinking about blood at the time. It's sort of horrible, but that was the intention ;)
